reference photos
and other helpful faq
Tips for taking good reference photos include:
- Taking the photo at the animals eye level.
- Making sure the photo has high resolution to show clear fine detail such as the direction of the animals fur.
- Take the photo in good, natural lighting conditions to accurately capture the animals eye and fur colour. The more clear a reference photo is, the more detail and realism you will get in your portrait.
- Taking more than one photo of your animal is helpful to me as I can get a feel for the animals personality.
- When you have taken your reference photos, zoom in or enlarge the images to make sure the animals details are not blurred.
- Ensure all the animals features are in the photo including ears, sides of the head and the neck.

helpful faq on reference photos
01. what if my favourite photo is`nt perfect?
That is totally fine. However, you will need to provide more than one photo in this case. If your favourite photo is blurry or dark, send it anyway. I can in most cases combine details from your other photos to create a portrait you will love. Your photo should be as good of quality as possible and remember, the better the photo, the better the drawing! Multiple photos and even videos, help me to study your pets detail, colours and personality.

03. Can i use photos taken on my phone?

Yes. Modern phone cameras are great. Just always make sure you're not zoomed in too far, as zooming can reduce detail. Again, also make sure you're taking the photo in natural light.

02. can you combine pets from different photos?

Of course!
If your pets wont sit together or unfortunately one has passed, I can create a portrait of them side by side using separate photos. Again, just make sure each pet`s photo is clear and well lit as possible, so I can match their proportions and colouring accurately.

04. can you work from screenshots or social media posts?

Unfortunately these types of images are often compressed and blurry, which removes important details. You can always send them to me anyway and I will let you know if it`s possible to use them or not.
